I believe he was talking about ELKS, which is derived from an early
version of the Linux kernel and runs on 8088 and above processors (I
believe there was even a partial port to the 8 bit Z80 processor at one

You mean those years that I ran (well, more like crawled) Linux on a 386
with 4MB of RAM were all in my imagination? ;)
