Try to check if your serial port is well configured. I had the
same problem at the begining. I'm also using Suse. Things were
working with 5.2 but not anymore with 6.1.

There is still something I do not understant in the boot process
which ends with a misconfigured serial port. I have to run by
hand "setserial...." (just look in /etc/init.d/serial to find
the parameter suitable for the port you are using) after each
boot :-(.

Hope this helps.
