My non-authoritative answers: The format of executable binary on uClinux is FLAT. Is it the case ? Yes The FLAT executable binary is transformed from ELF or Coff format using elf2flat or coff2flat respectively. Is it the case ? Yes Can a FLAT format executable binary contain debug informations for gdb ? Probably, but you dont need it. See my answer below regarding debugging. Can we use gdb or do we have any kind of debug tools on uClinux ? Yes. This is what we do for our Coldfire (5206 EC3) board. We run gdbserver on uClinux on our board.
