[uClinux-dev] PPPD with PAP/CHAP and uClinux-2.4.x

Hi,

I'm trying to use PAP/CHAP with my uClinux box with no success. I'm
using a propietary board based on a M68VZ328 processor with
uClinux-2.4.17 running on it and uClibc-0.9.9.

The pppd version I'm using is the one from the unified uClinux distro,
which seems to be pppd-2.3.8. I have been reading the pppd documentation
and it is stated that with linux kernels above 2.4.x, pppd must be
upgraded to at least 2.4.0.

The error I'm given is that my RedHat 7.2 box rejects de pap
negotiation, but it's properly configured. This is the log I get from my
RedHat machine.

Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0xf600ab68>]
rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <auth pap> <magic 0x2e14>
<pcomp> <accomp>]
sent [LCP ConfRej id=0x1 <auth pap> <pcomp> <accomp>]
rcvd [LCP ConfAck id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0xf600ab68>]
rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0x2 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x2e14>]
sent [LCP ConfAck id=0x2 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x2e14>]
sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x1 <addr 10.10.128.77> <compress VJ 0f 01>]
rcvd [LCP EchoReq id=0x0 magic=0x2e14]
sent [LCP EchoRep id=0x0 magic=0xf600ab68]
rcvd [LCP TermReq id=0x3 "peer refused to authenticate"]
LCP terminated by peer (peer refused to authenticate)
sent [LCP TermAck id=0x3]
Connection terminated.

Is it really necesary to upgrade pppd version? I have downloaded
ppp-2.4.1 and have successfuly compiled it, but when executing it, the
board hangs.... So before I start to "destroy" the clean ppp-2.4.1
version to trye to make it work, I thought that maybe someone could have
already done the work. Is anyone using PAP/CHAP with uClinux-2.4.x?

Thanks,

David
