Traditionally uClinux has been geared towards diskless embedded systems. It doesn't really need any type of mass storage. But what if you want to build embedded products that need hard disks? Build a simple IDE interface, and just use what Linux has to offer! One of the big advantages of using the Linux base is that you can leverage all its existing drivers and infrastructure. Here is the SnapGear (formerly Lineo and Moreton Bay) SecureEdge The eLIA uClinux/ColdFire Development Board is no longer available. It has been rolled up into the SnapGear SecureEdge family of OEM solutions and development kits. Also SnapGear (http://www.snapgear.com) apparently have some NAS products in the pipeline but at present have a range of uClinux-based VPN Routers.
